We did the fitness test a couple of days ago and will be taking our before pictures, as well as getting all of our equipment in order. DH has to install some more plates for the doorways so that the awesome pull-up bar can be used in various places. It’s really a great piece of equipment and can’t compare to the old in-the-doorway metal chin-up bar that we already have. However we’ll put it up for our little guy to use.

The P90X came in the mail today. I looked over the diet plan and we watched the first video. We decided to start on Friday, and start with the 5th DVD, to stay consistent with the days, as the 7th day is a rest/stretch day, which should be Sunday. DH didn’t want to wait until Monday and that sounds good to me.
When I looked at the nutrition/diet guide, I noticed all these lovely fruits and veggies adorned all over the cover and initial pages. I thought that maybe it was going to stress lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but it really focuses on cooked foods, and a lot of animal products and grains. Then on the video it mentions that the supplements are a huge necessity because the diet lacks enough nutrients. It is no wonder, when there is not even one meal suggestion of fresh fruits and veggies.
The outlines of the diet are definitely healthier than the Standard American Diet fast food, processed and cooked animal-based diet, as the recipes are all low or non-fat and a lot less processed. However the veggie options were mostly processed, and included a lot of dairy products.
The one thing I will personally utilize is the hemp powder since I can find it raw and denatured. Right now I use Manitoba Harvest and there are a couple of other reputable companies such as Nutiva & Living Harvest that produce high quality, raw hemp protein.
Something good out of this, diet-wise, is that I can lower my family’s fat intake – they eat a lot of full fat cheese, a lot of eggs, etc. They don’t eat too much meat, and are open to a lot of meatless dishes. I like the fact that egg whites are common instead of whole eggs.
I did get some soy products for them, but will try to keep it to a minimum as soy products aren’t the healthiest options either. It is important to use organic and non-GMO soy whenever possible.
